History of Plasma Arc Speakers

Plasma arc speakers are a particular kind of speakers, where varying pressure of air creates sound. It happens through a corona discharge or electric arc. These speakers consists a tweeter, which is far more improved than the traditional tweeter.

Plasma arc is actually a technology, which was first used in the metal industry long back in the year 1800. The intention to use this technology was to provide a high heat. After this came the plasma heaters. They were used in the chemical industry in 1900. Plasma heaters were used to make acetylene fuel from natural gas. This technology was used largely in 1980. After these experiments, plasma was used in speakers.

The history of plasma arc speakers is very much related to the history of loudspeakers. In 1876 Alexander Graham Bell invented the first loudspeaker. But that was invented as a part of the telephone. Ernst Siemens developed this instrument a bit in 1978. Thomas Edison, Nikola Tesla also made something closer to loudspeakers.

Oliver Lodge invented the first modern design of loudspeakers in the year 1898. In early stage, electromagnets were used instead of powerful and large permanent magnets. Actually the later one was not available at that time. The loudspeakers have changed their looks many times. And this constant flow of experimentation gave birth to different kinds of speakers. Plasma arc speakers were born out of this experimentation.

Electrical plasma is used as driver in plasma arc speakers. Plasma is charged and has a minimal mass and for that reason an electrical field can manipulate them. It causes an output, which is very linear. And the frequency becomes much more higher than the audible range. Dr. Allan Hill invented a new kind of plasma arc speaker. It used helium rather than ozone and nitrous oxide.

This particular kind of speaker provides you a lot of facilities. It has got modern technology. These speakers give you a clear sound. The effects of these speakers are also brilliant. The bass and treble effects are very well balanced in this speaker. It also consists a tweeter, which is far more advanced than the conventional one.

The magnetic field that varies with the input changes its position immediately. But this change is prevented by the inertia of the driver in the case of conventional speakers. The devices have some physical limitations that distort the inputs. And it decreases the reliability of the speaker. There is another reason for this distortion and that is the high strong frequency.

Plasma arc speakers changed its look with time. Different kinds of speaker slowly emerged. Different brands had made these speakers. All of them have provided some facilities. Panasonic, Sony, Hitachi etc. these are all some popular brands of this speaker. These can be expensive. But always remember that you are spending your money on something useful. So do not think twice to invest your money in this purpose. And always buy the stuffs of reputed companies. So go ahead and experience the effect of plasma arc speakers.
